Dr. Cuff has an interest in shoulder and elbow surgery specializing in shoulder and elbow replacement as well as minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. In 2012 Dr. Cuff was elected to the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society. He is one of a small group of surgeons in the state of Florida to be given this honor and he is the only surgeon in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier counties to attain Active Member Status in this organization. He has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed international journals on the topics of shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Cuff has received several research awards for his work in this field including the prestigious Charles Neer Award which was presented to him in 2011 by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons for outstanding clinical research. Approach to Treating Patients

Connecting with my Patients

“Taking time to carefully listen to my patient’s orthopaedic complaints and understanding how their lives are being affected is critical to successfully treating them. My initial goal is to find non-operative ways to decrease their pain and improve their quality of life. For those patients that end up requiring surgery I try to provide as much information as possible in an effort to guide them through the process and ease their concerns. I believe that developing a productive relationship between the patient and the surgeon ultimately leads to improved outcomes for the people we treat.”

Success Through Specialization

“Specialized care is becoming more and more common in orthopaedic surgery. During my education I was fortunate to be taught by some of the leaders in the field of upper extremity surgery. I completed an additional year of specialized training in shoulder and elbow reconstruction learning the modern techniques in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and the latest developments in shoulder and elbow replacement. Athletic and degenerative problems of the shoulder and elbow occur frequently and I like treating these patients so they can return to the activities they enjoy doing.”
